Owing to an accident which occurred yesterday, when as nice a " pie " was made as was ever seen in a printing ofiice, the Pupation of « Our monthly supplement," which should have been issued to-day. is unavoidably held over until Monday. A supplementary Suez mail will be made up at ten o'clock to-morrow morning. The Customs receipts at the Port of Nelson for the weekt ending this day were £2052 17s 2d. J A telegram to the Post, dated London January 8, says : -Lord Derby has informed Russia that England must participate iv any peace negotiations entered into between Russia and Turkey. The Levy Company gave the last of their series of concerts at the Provincial Hall last night. The enthusiasm displayed by the audience showed how thoroughly the entertainment was appreciated by those whoie good fortune it was to hear it. The proprietor of the Hardy-street baths advertises that he. has recently had them thoroughly cleansed. They are now open to the public at the low charge of threepence including towels. In the Supreme Court at Wellington, Edward Tyler, who ..is known to many in Nelson, was found guilty of passing % valueless cheque last Wednesday. In passing sentence, his Honor expressed the regret he felt at seeing a man of prisoner's position in life found guilty of such a grave offence. As it was not the first time he had been convicted, a heavy punishment must be inflicted. The sentence of tbe Court was that prisoner be confined in the Wellington gaol for two years, with hard labor. Mr Hodder retiring from the firm, T. R. Hodder and Co., have decided to relinquish the Trafalgar House Business, and to reduce the stocks in their general stores at Richmond and Spring Grove— to effect thit they will offer immediately the whole of their varied stocks at very greatly reduced prices.
