In con- 1 : nection with her departure from Wellington the Telegraph authorities perpetrated an egregious blunder, she having been posted up as leaving there at 10 p.m. on Monday, The steamer was advertised to leave at the above stated time, but at that hour Captain Whitweli found it so dark that he deemed it prudent to wait until yesterday morning, when the Charles Kdward left shortly after b\x- o'clock. This is not the first time that we have had to complain of the carelessness of the authorities in regard to shipping matters, and we hope that they will be more careful for the future. The Charles Edward sailed for West Coast ports this afternoon. The s.s. Murray returned to harbor this morning from West Coast ports. She left Nelson at 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday, the Ist inst , conveying the West Coast portion of the San Francisco mail, arriving at Westport on Wednesday, the 2nd, at 6 p.m.; left again the same tide at 9 p.m. for Greymouth, arriving there the next morning at 6 a.m.; was detained there until Saturday, Lhe sth, in consequence of the bad state of the bar, when she left, arriving at Hokitika at noon the same day; left again for Greymouth on Sunday, the 6th, at 10 a.m., arriving there at 1 p.m.; coaled and left for Westport at noon on Monday, the 7th, arriving off the Buller Bar at 7 p.m., and at Weatport at 9.50 p.m.; left for Nelson at 12.15 p.m. on the Bth, arriving as above. Experienced fresh W. to S.W. winds with heavy S.W. swell to Sandspit. The Murray brings over 11,000 ozs. of gold from West Coast banks, and a number of passengers. She sails for Wellington at 7 p.m.
