Tendehs for widening part of the road to Spooner's Range, and for improving the road in i;he Motupiko Valley must be sent in to the Secretary before 10 a.m. to-morrow. Su-edy, the lunatic who escapedfrom the Sports grouud on Tuesday, was brought into town yesterday afternoon by Constable Levy, who, after having travelled as far as Cooper's accommodation house, returned to Dwyer's, where he found his man, and brought him into Nelson. Slieedy applied for and was supped with food there on Wednesday and i.b?n went off into the bush, returning again ye^epday for a fresh supply of provisions, when be was induced to remain \ until the constable returned. At the adjourned meeting of the Education Board, held this morning, the following resolution, in reference to the aided schools, was. unanimously agreed to : — '• That with regard to the schools that have hitherto been subsidised pv aided by this Board, and which are not provided fot in the Education Act, 1877, the Board jnjfo/'.ms the managers of those schools that no provision has been made for continuing su.eh subsidies by the Act., and, therefore, refers fchem. to the Education Department/' 1 <
