Eight thousand persons attended the Caledonian sports yesterday, and five thousand travelled by rail. In the Cameron Sweep on the Melbourne Champion Race, the winners are all Dunedin men. Mr Driver reports :— Wheat, little animation ; milling, 4s 6d to 5s for good samples. Oats, brisk demand, and supplies coming slowly. Barley, none offering. Grauamstown, Tbnrsday. The Premier and the Native Minister visited the Thames yesterday, and transacted business with the Borough, County, aud Harbor authorities. They left in the Hinemoa last night for Tauranga, intending to call at Coromandel. Mr Sheehan is suffering from a broken rib, which prevented him from carrying out his intention of proceeding to Tauranga via Ohinemuri. Oamaru, Friday. Business in the grain and breadstuffs continues dull; wheat, 4s to 4s 6d; oats, 3s to 3s 6d; barley, none; flour, £14 to £14 10s, f.0.b.; oatmeal, £17; pearl barley, £20; pollard, £5 10s; bran, £3 10s. During the past few days we have had a welcome fall of rain, which has greatly improved the crops, and farmers now confidently anticipate somewhat better than an average yield in all cereals. Bluff, Thursday. Arrived— Tararua. She left Melbourne on the 24th ult., Hobarton on the 28th, and had fine weather along the coast. She brings 33 saloon and 30 steerage passengers, and 209 tons of cargo for all ports. She sailed for Dunedin at 4 p.m. Passengers for Nelson — Mrs Darke, child, and servant, Mr Fox and child, Messrs Edwards, Hammond, Fadqueen, Blackwood (2), Baxton, Perkins, and 3 steerage.
