CORRESPONDENCE.
To the Editor of the 'Evening Mail.' Sik,— Will you kindly allow me to make an explanation respecting a local paragraph that appeared in your paper of yesterday referring to an accident that occurred to Mr Osborne by a horse owned by me. The lane alluded to is not a public one, but a private « right of way." The horse was not iv the lane, bufc on my private property aud some six feefc off the lane; the wheel of the dray was chained and had a heavy load of stones on. The absence of the driver was caused through his feeling unwell, and he had jusfc run up to my house and waa nofc away many minutes. I very much regret the accident to Mr Osborne, but fail to see any neglect on my part as there was no necessity for Mr Osborne crossing my ground or touching the horse's head,— l am, &c, J. D. Armstrong;.
