The Midge sailed for Waitapu last evening with a full cargo. The Lady Barkly took up her running this morning when she sailed for Golden Bay.

The ketch XXX sailed yesterday afternoon for Waitapu, there to load with timber for Lvttelton.

The Kennedy, arrived from Wellington this morning, and will sail for the Coast at 6 p.m. to-morrow.

The Arawata will arrive from Wellington to-morrow morning, aud is advertised to return to that port in the afternoon.

The hematite trade is beginning to assume large proportions, two vessels having arrived yesterday from Para Para with cargoes of ore for Mr Louisson.

The Taranaki arrived at Wellington last night at twelve o'clock, and left there for Picton this afternoon at 4 o'clock. She will arrive here to-morrow about midday, and sail for Tarauaki and Manukau in the afternoon at three o'clock with the outward San Francisco mail.

The schooner May is advertised to sail for Waitapu this evening. The Arawata was advertised in last night's Post to make an excursion trip from Wellington to Nelson, leaving the Empire City late to-night, and returning there on Sunday morning.

The Union Company's s.s. Wellington arrived in harbor this morning ot 345 a.m,, after a rough passage from Taranaki. She left Onehuuga at 4 p ui. on Tuesday, crossing the bar at 6 p.m.; New Plymouth was reached at 8 o'clock yesterday morning; and after a stay of an hour and a half, during which the passengers and cargo were landed, the steamer proceeded on to Nelson. A strong S.W. Wind with heavy head sea was experienced oo the passage across, iu consequence of which the Wellington had a close 9have of catching this morning's tide. She sails for Picton, Wellington, and South at eleven o'clock to night.

The p.a. Charles Edward, Captain Whitwell, retuaned from West Coast ports this morning at 9 o'clock. She left Nelson on Sunday, the 2nd inst., at 21 a.m., taking the West Coast'portion of the inwards San Francisco mail, and arrived at Westport at 8.45 a.m. on the 3rd; left again at 11 a.m. same tide for Greymouth, arriving alongside the wharf there at 7 p.m.; left for Hokitika next .morning at 7.30, arriving there at 10 o'clock; left again for Greymouth at 7 a.m. on the sth, arriving at 10 a.E.; was detained there until Tuesday, the 11th iusfc., in order to convey the West Coast portion of the outgoing San Fraucisco mail, when she left at 2 p.m., arriving at Westport at 1 1 p.m. ; left for Nelson at 2.30 p.m. on the I2th, arriving here as above. Experienced fresh S. W wind and heavy westerly swell on the passage up.
