Dec. 8, steamer Wellington, 286, M'Gee, for Taranaki and Manukau. Passengers : Mr Ludlow, and 20 others. — steamer Wallace, 64, Dillon, for West Coast: Mrs and Mis* Thornton and' 3 children, Messrs Weir, Prachard, Rochford, Sparrow, Lazar, Raine, Kiely, Horsburgh, Gillman, Rielly, Stevens, Gillon, Stanton, Prazer. — schooner May, 21, Moore, for Waitapu. The Wallace left for West Coast ports to-day. The Arawata, with the Suez mail, will be due at the Bluff to-morrow evening. The Lyttelton arrived at Blenheim this morning, and will sail for Wellington tonight. The Kennedy arrived from the West Coast this afternoon, and will sail for Wellington ou Monday evening. The repairs to the Murray are rapidly proceeding, and her boiler will he shipped next Saturday. The^ Awaroa is rapidly loading, and is advertised to sail for Wanganui on Monday at noon. The Customs receipts collected at the Port of Nelson for the week ending this day amounted to £1017 8s lid. The yacht Gannet arrived at Wellington on Wednesday evening from Picton. Mr Bichardson sailed her across. The Wanaka leaves Onehunga to-day, will arrive to morrow night, and sail for Picton, Wellington, and South on Monday morning at ten o'clock. The Tararua lef t Wellington to-day, will arrive, to-morrow, and sail for Westport, Greymouth, Hokitika, and Melbourne on Monday at II a. m. The Charles Edward waits on the West Coast to bring up the San Francisco mail. She will leave Greymouth for Nelson via Westport on Tuesday. The ketch Old Man, manned by Maoris, attempted to take a short cut across the Boulder Bank last evening, the wind then Wowing from the S.W., but to ihe great surprise of the crew they fouud themselves suddenly hung fast, and the tide being on the ebb soon left the ketch high and dry. At low water the Maoris cleared away a number of stones from under the boat, aud at high ■water this morniug she floated off. It is said that the Maoris for the future will not attempt the short cut, but will go round the orthodox way. The Union Company's s.s. AVellington, Captain M'Gee, arrived in harbor this morning shortly after eight o'clock. She left Port Chalmers yesterday week, and arrived at Lyttelton on Saturday; left same day, and reached Wellington on Sunday. She remained there in order to take up her running •until yesterday afternoon at 2.15, when she left. Picton was reached at seven o'clock, and three hours later she was on the way to Nelson, arriving here as above. The Wellington sailed for Taranaki and Manukau at 113t)a.m. Captain Williams' steamer Grafton arrived at Wellington from Sydney on Wednesday. She is described as au iron vessel of 270 tons register, with twin screws, driven by two high pressure surface condensing engines of 65 horse-power nominal, She was originally built for a paddle-boat by Laird, of Birkenhead. For some time past she has been engaged la ihe Clarence River trade, and has been purchased by Captain Williams, who will probably run her in the West Coast trade. She is to be placed under the command of Mr Anderson, late chief officer of the. Taranaki.
