MOTUEKA HIGHWAY BOARD.

A special meeting: of the Board was held on December 3, foe the purpose of accepting tenders for making a valuation of the District in accordance with tlie provisions of the Rating Act, 1876. Present : The Chairman, Messrs. Carter, Coppins, Druinmoud and Edwards.

The following tenders were received :— For the whole district — £ William Rout (Nelson) . . 100 G. C. Gilbert (Motupipi) . 40 For the Motueka Sub-division— J. S. Eldest en . i 5 J.F.Wilson ... '. 20 Eor Lower and Upper Moutere— D. IE. Jennings . • . 10 C. Kelling ... .16 For Pangatotara and Ngatimoti— D. 11. Jennings ... 8 For Motueka and Riwaka— Hobert Pattie . . .22 Resolved — That Mr Patties tender for valuing the Motueka and Riwaka subdivisions, for £22, be accepted, and that Mr Jennings' tenders for valuing the Pangatotara, Ngatimoti, Lower and Upper Moutere sub-divisions, for £18, be also accepted. Tenders were also received for work required to opeu up a new road in Riwaka Valley, but owing to the difficulty of arranging (with one of the persons chiefly interested) for land for the road, ie was resolved that no further steps br takeu to open the proposed road,
