THE WAR.
General Gourko pained & decisive victory at Dubrik and Teleicha, capturing both places, commanding all the approaches to Plevna, and shutting Oaman Pasha completely in. A Russian official despatch says that the oumber of prisoners captured at Dubrik and Teleicha was 7000, including two .Pachas, 200 officers, and a British colonel in the Turkish service. After the victories at Dubrik and Teleicha, Russian scouts approached Rodomaza and Chefket Pasha with 12 batailions fled without destroying the bridge. The Russian cavalry went in pursuit. On November 3rd, fighting was continued qp the Plevna and Orchanie road. Chefket Pasha occupied a position commanding the junction of the Orcbaoie-Plevna and Orchanie-Lovatz roads. The Russian advance was repelled with heavy loss. Turkish reinforcements hurried up, and Chefket Pasha advanced to retake Teleicha, but was defeated after several hours 1 fighting at Rodomanza, the position previously abandoned by him. The Turks fled in the greatest disorder. The following are the positions of the armies investing Plevna : — No convoy has entered Plevna since General Gourko took command. The cavalry investment is now complete. The Imperial Guard as they arrived Jook up positions on the Russian left, thus gradually prolonging the line of investment from the Lovatz road to the Sophia road. The investment by infantry extends from the Roumanian position north-east of Plevna to the Sophia road. On the west the circle is completed by General Gourko's cavalry which can cut off all supplies. The Russians are every day receiving reinforcements, and there is every appearance that they intend to surround Plevna by a series of works, as the Germans surrounded P»ria. They will soon have troops enough to complete the infantry investment. There is every reason to believe that Plevna has not been victualed sufficiently to stand a siege until spring, and that Osman Pasba will probably attempt to fight his way out. In Armenia the defeat of Mukhtar Pasha at Aiadza Jagh, near Kara, was a complete rout. Mukhtar states that he was attacked from four sides, admitting that he allowed himself to be surrounded. A son of Scharayl, the Circassian chief, and Moussa, the celebrated cavalry officer, were killed. Reinforcements have been dispatched from Constantinople to Trebizond. The Russians have an army of 70, 000 before Kars. The Grand Duke left 40,000 to surround Kars, and pushed on with 30,000 towards Erzeroum. The retreat of the remnant of (he Turkish army between the two places was a complete rout. Ismail Pasha fell back rapidly, and awaited Mukhtar Pasha at Hassan Kaleb, gathering his scattered forces and reinforcements. The Kurds then fell back to the vicinity of Erzeroum. The opinion in Russia is that the war will end this year by the autonomy of Bulgaria under a German Prince guaranteed by the Powers, freedom of the Dardanelles to Russia, and a Representative Parliament. Turkey, however, is calling out ail her reserves, and pressing forward reinforcements in Europe and Asia,
