[PBESS AaENOT.] Wanganui, Thursday. The prospectus of the Wanganui Steam Navigation Company was issued to-day, capital £30,(100 in £10 shares. It is proposed to purchase the steamers St. Kilda and Wallabi to continue in the cattle trade, and to purchase the Clyde for the RangitikeiPatea trade, and to obtain a new steamer capable of carrying 150 tons for the Welling-ton-Wanganui trade. .There is a large provisional directory. ; Auckland, Wednesday. In compliance with a requisition bearing forty influential signatures, the Mayor has convened a meeting to consider the political situation. The meeting mil be held on Friday ia the Choral Hall. . CrßETiiouxH, Tuesday. • K. W. Twinning, chemist, has been charged with obtaining money by means of valueless cheque. He was remanded for eight days to bring a charge of forgery against him.
