The Charles Edward sails for West Coast ports this afternoon.
The Wanaka left New Plymouth this morning, will arrive to-night, and sail for Picton and South to-morrow at 1 p.m. The schooner Mary Webster is expected at -Motueka shortly from Hokianga with a load of timber for the bridge. The Thames finished discharging cargo this morning, and commenced ballasting this afternoon. She will probably sail for the Pelbras Sound to-morrow.
The Murray has been placed alongside the Albion Wharf, where the boiler will be taken out of her to-morrow, prior to her receiving a thorough overhaul under the superintendence of Mr Brown of the Anchor Foundry. H.M.S. Sappho arrived at Wellington yesterday afternoon. She must have anchored near the French Pass on Monday night, as she was passed by the Murrar yesterday morning near Jackson's Head. The stay of the man-of war in Wellington will be of short duration as she leaves there for Samoa immediately her stores arrive from Melbourne. It is probable that the Sappho will proceed from Samoa to Australia; if so, the ■chances are that we shall not see her* in this port again, as by that time her commission will have expired.
. The Taranaki came into harbor this afternoon shortly before one o'clock. She left Wellington at 5 p.m. yesterday, and arrived at Picton at 10 p.m.; sailed at 3.30 this morning, and arrived here as above. Experienced fine weather on the passage across the Straits. The Taranaki on her last trip South only proceeded as far as Wellington, where she transhipped her cargo and passengers into the Taupo, and received the latter's passengers and cargo. The Taupo sailed South yesterday afternoon. The Taranaki had a large cargo to land here, but It was all put on shore in good time, and she was enabled to sail for Northern ports at 3 p.m.
