[PBEBS AGENCY.] Wellington, Saturday. Mr Travers has given notice of motion that the thanks of the Houga be tendered to his Excellency for his message, and that in the opinion of the House the action of Ministers was unconstitutional and merited censure. Auckland, Friday, Edwin Jaggar, formerly Inspector of the National Insurance Company, has heen arrested on a charge of embezzling money from Mr Martin, agent for the Phoenix office, by whom Jaggar was employed. The accused was remanded. His solicitor said ifcjwould prove to be a matter of account between the parties, capable of arrangement. A fire occurred to-day in Abercombiestreet in a two storey building at the corner of the street. The activity of the brigade and the force of water put it out, although the building was completely destroyed. The was no insurance. The building was occupied by a laborer named Pridmore, whose son has been arrested on a charge of arson, but apparently there was no motive, the family losing everything, and barely escaping with their lives. Invbrcargill, Friday. Out of fifty thousand ova received from California only one per cent died. Lytteltox, Friday. Arrived— N.Z.S. Company's ship Rangatikei, Capt. Mailman, from London with immigrants, all well. She left Plymouth on August 12th and made the Snares on Wednesday at noon. Good health prevailed throughout the passage, and there were no deaths or sickness, and only one birth took place during the passage. O amaru, Saturday. A fatal accident occurred at Farlie Creek to a son of Mr Young, of the firm of Elder and Youug, who fell from his horse insensible and when he was picked up by the driver of the mail coach spoke a few words and then expired. Yesterday was observed as a close holiday, and business has been dull during the week owing to the Curistchurch races. The following are grain quotations : — Wheat, 5s 6 d to 6d ; oats, 2s 9d ; barley, 2s Gd to 3s 6d ; potatoes, 35 s.
