Melbourne, Nov. 4. At the Spring Meeting yesterday there was a good attendance. The weather was cold. Governors Bowen, Robinson, and Weld were present. Meibourne Stakes — Crusoe, 1 ; Woodlands, 2; Breadalbane, 3. Won by a length. Hotham Handicap— Vagabond, 1; Whisperer, 2 ; Artful Joe, 3. Twenty-eight started. Maryborough Stakes — Vulcan, 1; His Lordship, 2; Rhode, 3. Won by half a head. Time, Imm 7i_secs. Derby— Chester, 1; Pluto, 2; First King, 3. Won easily by half a length. Twelve started. Footscray Handicap— Activity, 1; Plunge, Essendon Stakes— Glenarmiston, 1; Viscount, 2; Strathearn, 3. Sydney. The steamer Lye-e-Moon has been almost completely destroyed by Are. She is lying alongside the works repairing. The origin of the fire is not kuown.
