The Nelson Evening Mail. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27, 1877.
Two printer's errors occurred in the letter signed " P," which appeared in our vesterterday's issue. " Absolution of the Pope " should have been "absolutism," and '* fighting against bis good nature" his "god Nature." Mr. Bright's lecture entitled " A race of barbarians," or "Our noble selves," was delivered last night, and proved most interesting and amusing, some of the satires being exceedingly clever. To-niorrow evening he will lecture at the Oddfellows' Hall on " Christianity, primitive and pagan." This race between the Naval Brigade's Aurora and the Sappho's boat did not take place this afternoon owing to the prevailing S.W. wind, which has been blowing great guns ail day. The match will probably come off next week. The sites for booths in the Botanical Gardens, on the occasion of the Costume Cricket Match on Tuesday nest, and in the Agricultural Fair Ground on the 9th of November, were sold by Messrs Sharp aud Pickering this afternoon, but the prices ob f amed were far from satisfactory. The attention of those interested in Sunday schools is directed to an advertisement which appears elsewhere with regard to services to be held to-morrow and next day. This Indian Famine Reiief Committee have decided to commence their canvass for sub- j scriptions early next week. The speech of Major Atkinson in moving the no-confideace motion, and that of Sir George Grey in reply, were forwarded to us by the Government last night, and are published to-day in a supplement. On account of pressure of space we are compelled to hold over the report of the City Council until Monday. Under the weather. — When a man feels languid, depressed, debilitated, and indisposed to exertion, mental or bodily, he tells us he is " out of sort 3 " or « under the weather." Persons in this condition need cheering and strengthening. Exhausted nature signifies by these symptoms that she needs aid and succor. Then is the time to resort to Udolvho Wolfe's Schiedam Aromatic Schnapps. The effect produced by this wonderful stimulant and tonic in such cases is almost electric. Strength, energy, and cheerfulness return and remain, for there is no reaction.— Advt*
