PARLIAMENTARY.
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Wellington, Tuesday. I he House met at 2-30 this afternoon. Replying to questions Minitters said— (l.) Government would during the recess consider the question of restoring the polico of the Middle Tsland to their former stations as peace officers. (2.) If it was found necessary a sum would be placed on the Estimates for repairs to the road between Gore and Wainakii. (3.) Intended to introduce a Bill to amend the Disqualification Act. The following new Bills were introduced: Peninsula County Bill (Mr Seaton), Canterbury Railways Land Reservation Bill (Mr Montgomery), Disqualification Bill (Mr Kelly), Taranaki County Reserre Bill (Mr Kelly), Mount Cook Road District Bill (Mr Teschmaker), Volunteers and Others Land Bill, Kaiapoi Native Reserves Bill, Hurataugi Crown Grants Bill, and Port Chalmers Compensation Bill were read a third time ani passed. On the motion for going into Committee on the South Rakaia Road Board Bill, No. 2, Mr Murray- Ay nsley moved that it be committed that day three months. Messrs Rolteston and Evans Brown supported the Bill. Mr Wason opposed it. The motion for going iuto Committee at once was negatived by 31 to 28. Mr Rees then moved that it be committed to-morrow. The debate was interrupted by 5-30. Wednesday. Major Atkinson intimated last night thai he would to-day give notice of a vote of noconfidence. Ha complained of the delay in going on with the Land Bill Mr Sheehan replied. He said if they remained in ofllce the Land Bill would pass this session. If they were to die they would die fighting. The Mines Bill was further considered in Committee. The Crown Redress Bill (Xo. 2), St Andrew's Church Trustees Incorporation Bill, Thames Water Supply Bill, Dunedin Loans Consolidation Bill, Town of Waitahuna Bill, Akaroa Public Library Site Bill, Lawrence Municipal Water Works Bill, Crown Grants Act Amendment Bill, Wellington Reserre Amendment Bill, Bankers Book Evidence Bill, and Conveying Ordinance Bill all passed through Committee, were read the third time and passed. The South Rakaia Road Board Bill (No. 1) and Onehunga Endowments Bill were read the second time. The Dunedin Wharves and Quay 3 Reserve Bill was ordered to be committed three months hence on a division of 30 to 15. The House rose at 1 a.ir..
