UPPER MOTUEKA ROAD BOARD.
This Board met on Saturday last. AH tbe members were present. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. Tenders were received for completing contract No. 5, Spooner's Range. The highest was £2 2s. per chain ; the lowest, that of Edgar, of £l sa. per chain was accepted. lenders were received for breast-cutting nnd river clearing by Mr Bromell's ; the highest was £40 (lump sum), the lowest, that of Mr. J. Robinson for £9 15s, was accepted. R. Kinzett's tender for gravelling 40 chains, Tadmor, at £1 lOs. per chaio, waa accepted. There was no other tender for that work. Mr J. Kerr's application for the repair of a bridge near the Roundel), was considered, and the plan of tho district' produced and consulted. Resolved, Thpt Mr Kerr be informed that the same is not within the Upp9r Motueka Road District, but appears to be aituated within an outlying district of |the County of Waimea. Mr A. Thompson, of the Baton, attended and stated tbat the new road to Motueka River, required the river fords clearad, and tba* some slips also had blocked the road. Resolved, That the Secretary be authorised to expeud the sum of £10 upon the above road, provided such sum can be expended with advantage. A memorial was presented by tbe raembe's of the Stanley Brook Sub-district, protesting against the line of road laid out by the Secretary, aud approved by Messrs Coleman and Needham, beiog made. There were present in support of the memorial, besides the two members for the Sub-district, Messrs Kelling, Crichton, Druraraopd, Fenemore, and Wilkinson. Resolved, That Mr Tarrant be requested to in--spect the two lines of road set out oa the Pigeon Valley Hill, accompanied by the two members of the Brook, acd as many members of the Board as may choose to accompany them, and that due notice be given by the Secretary of tbe day appointed, and that the Secretary be requested to communicate tbis resolution to Mr Tarrant, and request the favor of his earliest convenience." Resolved, That the next meeting of the Board be held on Saturday, November 10, at 10 a.m. Accounts were passed and paid amounting to £539 ss. Id.
