The cutter Midge will sail for Waitapu at iigh water this evening. The Charles Edward left for West Coast ■ports this morning. The Lyttelto 1 has been placed on the gridiron for painting and cleaning, and will sail for Blenheim on Saturday. The Murray arrived from West Coast ports this afternoon, -and will sail for Wellington at 3 p.m. to-mo:row. The Lady Barkly sailed for Motueka this afternoon with a goodly number of passengers. The cutters Planet and Maid of Italy arrived from Motueka and Riwaka respectively this morning. The repairs to the Zior are progressing favorably, a large staff of men being engaged at work at the vessel. She will probably be ready for sea early next week. The Awaroa -sailed for Wanganui last evening, A light air that was blowing all nfght no doubt gave her a good offiing before the sea breeze set in this morning. The steam tug Despatch arrived at Dunedin from Greymouth on Friday last for tbe purpose of being overhauled, gutted, and •fitted with new boilers, prepared for her at the factory of Messrs Kincaid aud M'Queen. . H.M.S. Sappho steamed to the outer anchorage last evening, where she lay until an early hour this morning, when she took her departure for Wellington. During her stay in harbor the men have been exercised in the ■various drills so numerous on . board of a man-of-war, iv fact it was for this purpose that she came here, where fine weather could be depended upon. It is probable tbat the Sappho will pay us one more visit before taking her departure for the old country. The corvette made a good run across tho Straits, having arrived at Wellington at 9 o'clock this morning. . The Union Company's s.s. Taupo, Captain Carey, arrived in harbor at 6 o'clock this morning. She left Port Chalmers on Saturday at 4 p.m., and arrived at Akaroa next morning; after a stay of a few hours, sailed for Lyttelton, arriving there at 2 p.m. same day; sailed from Lyttelton at 5.30 p.m, on Monday, and reached Wellington at noon on Tuesday; left at 1 pm. yesterday, and arrived at Picton at 6 o'clock; sailed at S p m. and arrived here as above. Fine weather marked the passage up. The Taupo passed the Taranaki in the Sound last evening, and another steamer off Jackson's Head, supposed to be the Wallace. Mr M'Gee, formerly of the Wellington, is chief officer of the Taupo for the present trip. The Taupo. sails for Northern ports at 5 p.m.
