The Nelson Evening Mail. MONDAY, OCTOBER 1, 1877.

Capt. Edwin reports this afternoon .- — Watch barometer, bad weather approaching, any direction between north and west, and further fall of glass. Some idea of the amount of work before the Assembly may be gathered frora the fact that the Order Paper of Friday last contained no less than 87 orders of th. day, and 32 notices of motion, besides questions to be asked and other business. There was divina service on board the Sappho yesterday morning, Captain Digby officiating. In the afternoon the vessel was visited by a large number of peopl*, thus showing that the man-of-_i.ar has lost none of its attractions by frev A ueot risits to this port. In consequerce of the unpropitioua state of tha weather the departure of the Sappho has been put off until to-morrow afternoon at two o'clock, when _ho will sail direct for Wellington. The anniversary meeting in connection with the Christ Church Sunday School will be held in The Wood Schoolroom to-moirow evening. There will be a tea at six o'clock after which addresses will be delivered by the Bishop of Nelson, several of the clergy, and other friends. The auniversary of the Stoke Wesleyan Chapel will be celebrated to-morrow evening by a tea aud public meeting. Ttere will be singing during the evening by the Nelson Wesleyan Church choir.
