The anniversary of the Stoke Wesleyan Chapel will be celebrated by a tea meeting on Tuesday next, when the Nelson Wesleyan Choir are expected to be present. Two sermons iu connection with the above will be preached to-morrow. The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court will commence on Monday moruinowhen his Honor the Chief Justice will preside. There are three cases set down for trial, all of which are from the West Coast. The Customs receipts for the week endin°* this clay amounted to £380 Is Bd. H.M.S: Sappho will steatri to the outer anchorage on Monday, where she will remain uutil the following day, when she wili sail for We'lington. Ifc is nofc uulikely that she Avill pay another visit to Nelson at the close of tho session of Parliament, bringing his Excellency the Governor across. The Sappho will be thrown open for the inspection of visitors to-morrow afternoon. The wafcormen announce that they will convey passsengers to and frora the ship for the modest sum of one shilling, and should fine weather prevail to-morrow there is no doubt a large number of people will pay a visit to the mau-of-war. Thb District Court sat afc half past two o clock yesterday afternoon, his Honor Judge Broad presiding. Mr Fell applied for the discharge of the bankrupt, Alexander M-Lainei Mr Bunny appeared for the creditors and opposed. Hia Honor granted tha application as from the 31st December. Sedentary pursuits are enfeebling. Nature never intended us to sifc in a doubled up posture half our lives, and accordingly she revenges herself upon those who do so by inlicting upon them indigestion, debility, and very frequently lumbago and kidney disease.
