[Pan Wakatipu.] Melbocknk, Sept. 21. Arrived t Ship Ambassador, from New York, after a disastrous passage. On Jane 1 6th she was struck by a terrific sea, which caused great destruction, with tha loss of the captain, second officer, and three of the crew, who were washed overboard and drowned. The vessel put in to the Cape to refit. Portions of wreckage have beea seen near Apollo Bay. It is said that two men were seeu clinging to a spar 50 feet long. The steamer Pharos has been sent out in search. Mr K. E. Lee, the publisher of the Police Gc<ze'te, has been acquitted on a charge of libel. 10,000 bushels of malt sold at 10a. The captain of the Macduff is to be proceeded agaiust for running down a smack in tbe English Channel. ADELAtDE,"Sept. 21. The Government are arranging with the Orient line of steamers to bring out a limited number of immigrants. 10,000 bushels of wheat sold at 6s 3d. Seven bags of New Zealaud sold at 4s 9d delivered in Adelaide. Eleven hundred immigrants are now on the road from England. The Burra Burra mine is closed.'on account of the low price of copper.
