Recommendations of Finance Cora-xt-ittea"adopted. (See appendix A.) s ''Mr Tarrant's report, recommending that tbe Pangatotara School be kept open, was read and adopted. R.s6lved~That a salary of £72 per annum be allowed for a teacher at Pangatotara, with house allowance of £12.-.. A letter having been read' from the Chairman of the Motueka Education Committee, referring to tha establishment of a High school at Motueka, it was resolved— That the further consideration of this subject be postponed until after the passing of the Education Act. ' Tbe Secretary was instructed to inform Mr Slatter that the Board could not undertake to point out for bim tbe boundaries of the Pangatotara reserve leaded by him, tbe same having been once surveyed already. Resolved— That a salary of £72 per annual, with house allowance of £12, be allowed for a mistress at Lower Wakefield Girls' Sohool, it being understood that the present second division of the Lower Wakefleid school ba henceforth classed as an infant school, the limit of age being between five and eight years. Resolved— -That the consideration of the question of constituting an Education district at Ahaura be deferred until after the passing of the Education Act. ., . Resolved— That £100 ba allowed; for a toaober at Dovedale. Resolved — That a memorial .< from several inhabitants of Ngatimoti be referred to the Local Committee for that district, and that the Inspector be instructed to communicate with the Committee on the subject and to make a special examination bf the school. ; Resolved— That the Inspector be instructed to arrange with Mr Goodall, iate collector of the Education rate at Weatport, for the appointment of a Successor to collect arrears of rates. Resolved— That the Town Committee be authorised to employ a certificated teacher at Hampden-street School for one month, at a remuneration of £3. Appendix A. That Committee allowances for the current Ralf-year be £259. -That the representatives of the late S. . Campbell be allowed to transfer the lesUe of No, 92 and 94 Black's Point. That T. N. Gunn's offer of £2 12.. per annum for a 21 yeats' lease of No. 59; Cobden, be accepted. That the Board grant a five years' lease of the Clifton reserve to a tenaut whose payments shall be handed over to Mrs Robinson, so long as she continues to be mistress of.the Motupipi School. That a sum cot exceeding £80 be j placed at the disposal of the Upper Wakefield Committee to enable them to add two rooms to the teacher's bouse at Upper Wakefield. Tbat the consideration of an application from the Weatport, Committee for a grant of £100, to defray the cost of •clearing and draining the site of the Westport Girls' School and putting up outhouses, be deferred until after the Inspector's visit to the West Coast in October Balance in the Bank of New Zealand on September 4, £2188 19.
