THE TURKS GAIN A BRILLIANT VICTORY. RUSSIAN LOSS 4000, TURKISH, 1200. r . Bombay, Angust 27. Ihe Russians admit the repulse at Eski -Djuui, and have fallen back to Sulkamskoi. The vanguard of Sulieman Bey's right wing has crossed the Balkans at Stamboghaz, aud is advancing on Kabrova. Later. A Russian official despatch reports continuous fighting at Shipka until 12 o'clock on the morning of Saturday last. A despatch from Sulieman Bey, dated the 23rd instant, states that the Russian sorties were repulsed. There was to be a general assault on the following day. The Russians were completely surrounded. Tho Turks command the line of retreat to Kabrova. A Stamboul despatch of the 23rd instant, states that Sulieman Bey had captured the Pass and attacked Kabrova. London, August 26. General Daroschinsky was killed at Shipka Pass. r The Turks gained a brilliant victory on the heights of Kenzeith, after severe fighting. The Russian ioas was 4000, including General Tchonschvasoff. The Turkish loss was 1200. All the Powers have concurred with Germany in making representations to the Porte regarding the treatment of the Russian prisoners and wounded. Colonel Wellesley's report denies the alleged Russian cruelties. Sydney, August 28. The Premier and Minister of Lands have been re-elected.
