Co. mHE ATTENTION of OCCUPIERS of X LAND in the WAIMEA ROAD DISTRICT is cilled to the following extract from " 'Jb.3 Public Works Act, 1876".— Clause 3S — If any tree or hedge overhangs a road so as to injure it, or any gorae be allowed to spread irorn any hedge. into any road so as to injure the same, the Board niny, upon tho certificate of a competent Surveyor, or ;of any two members of tho Board, after together viewing the place, thnt such injury is being done, order the part of such tree to overhanging to be removed, or such hedge to be lowered op trimmed, or such gorse to be grabbed up and removed, as they direct; and any occupier of the land in which such tree op hedge is, who does not within one month aft^r Ihe reueipt of such order obey the same, shall be liable to a penalty not escteding five pounds for every day during which such order is not obeyed, and a, farther sum eg ml to the cost incurred by i ii Bo r\ in removingsuch tree, or lowering w £>;«; ■ ins such hetfg?, or grubbing up or removing e:;oh gorse.
