CORRESPONDENCE.
To the Editor of the 'Eveninc* Mail.. Sir,— Will you allow me through the medium of your columns to thank Councillo s Pickering, Harley, and Waters for the moral courage they manifested in not allowing so monstrous and glaring an injustice to have been done to the ratepayers of Nelson. There are many places that require only a few pounds to be spent to make the roads passable, and though the work iu some instances has been ordered to be done, it is not yet commenced. Others have been commenced, a day or two spent on the road, and then left in a worse state than before. I have only to point out Grove-streat, where a commencement was made to put a little gravel on it some three months ago, and, would you believe me, Sir, although it would only have taken two or three days to finish tlie work, then begun, it is in a far worse condition now than if they had not touched it at all. And two of these good men, who voted for £300 where it was not required, live in the Wood, which requires a few pounds to be spent. I think it is quite time the ratepayers of Nelson went in for getting the city divided into wards, and then the outlying parts would get justice done to them. Yours, &c, Justice to aliv.
