It was proposed by Mr A. Harley, and seended by Mr Win, That, in the opinion of this meeting, the report of the late meeting of the Road Boards Conference as supplied to tha Evening Mail, of July 30, is unreliable and untruthful, and the members of this Board, who were present at the Conference, approve of tbe action taken by ! the Chairman in reference thereto. The Overseer reported as follows: — Messrs 0. The Chairman stated that he had been credibly informed that a paper forwarded to him by the Chairman of the late meeting of ratepayers in Bichmond, and purporting to be resolutions passed at aame meeting, was only a series of propositions intended to have been submitted to the ratepayers' meeting, but which, through some oversight had not been put, and that therefore they could only be viewed as the suggestions of the writer. Resolved, Tbat two members of the Board inspect the various roads on which gorse is growing, preparatory to making the certificates required by the Public Works Act; also, that the clause referring to the abatement oi gorse be published for general information, with the view of saving as far as possible, the parties affected from the annoyance and expense of legal action.
