DR. L. L. SMITH (The only legally-qualified Medical man advertising), CONSULTS — Oo all affections of the Nervous System (no mitter from what causa arising) ; on all brokeu-down Constitutions ; on all Diseases arising from early Indiscretions ; on Gout ; on Rheumatism. IN theae Colonies, those excesses whioh we have indulged in "hot youth" tell upon us with fearful interest. Our regrets are useless, our repinings futile. The sole idea should be the chances we possess of remedying the ills we already , have, or combating tne effects likely- to result. Hide it aa he may— put on aa good an exterior as he can— still ia the vi.tim conscious that he is a living lie, and that sooner or later his vices wiil discover him to the world. Our Faith— our obligations to society at large— the welfare of our mtuce offspring— and the duty we owe to ourselves— forbids procrasti naiiou, aud points out to us not to wait till the ravages break oue in our constitutions. Before negotiating with a merchant, before engaging with a confidential clerk; before employing a barrister— a careful man makes inquiries as to their standing ; aud, in the case of a legal advisor, both as to his legal qualifications and as to his capabilities of transacting the individual business he consults ;him upon. Strange to say, however, in. the selection of a medical man, the sufferer frequently omits these necessary precautions, and without regard to the flcness, qualification, experience, and ability for the particular ailment requiring treatment, he consults the uearest man, whose experience and practice, perhaps, lies in quite an opposite direction. Is it astonishing that so many are driven mad, are ruined in health, and are bankrupt in spirits, hope, and money? Have I not, lor years, poiuted out to them that I, Dr. L. L, Smith, am the only legally-qualified medical maa advertising in the Colaniss f Have I not alao prosecuted, at my own expense, these very quacks, and esposed the various nostrums they are selling— such aa Phosphodyne, Essence of Life, &c. — and had them analysed, and found thtm to oonsist of ** Burnt sugar and flavoring matter," and the certificates I have proved to be all forgeries. It is lor this reason that I step out of the ethics of the profession and advertise, to give those who requrie the services of my branch an opportunity of knowing they can consult a legally qualified man, aud one moreover who naa made this his especial study. Dr L L. Smith ia the only legally qualified medical man advertising, and he has b .en in Melbourne 24 years in full practice on Nervous Diseases Losa of Power and Debility Syphilitic Affections Want of Condition Gout and Rheumatism. Da. L. L. SMITH can beconsulted by letter —Fee £i. Medicines forwarded to all the colonies. De. L. L. SMITH, 182 Collins st. East. " By a thorough knowledge of the natural laws which govern the operations of digestion and nutritiou, and by a careful application of the fine properties of well-selected Cocoa, Mr. r Epps has provided our breakfast tables with a delicately-flavored beverage which may save us many doctors' bills. It ia hy the judicious use of such articles of diet that a constitution mny be gradually built up until strong eriough to resist every tendency to disease. Hundreds of subtle maladies are floating around us ready to attack wherever there is a weak point. We may escape many a fatal shaft by keeping ouraelves well fortified with pure blood and a properly nouriahed frame.' —See article in the Civil Service Gazette. They give the refreshing draught, ind may be relied on as presenting at the same time the chemical ingredients of thj natural waters. It is obvious that in this form the •granul .r eflerves-ent" preparations present many advantage, over the waters themselves While all the constituents of the natural springs are exactly produced, the Sales are extremely portable, more eonomical, and with them a sparkling refreshing draught is iirocurable in any quantity at any time. . ooi testimo_tt:_a. , _.s Dr. Redwood, Professor of Chemistry at tha Phtrtnacauticsl Society of Great Britain,^ thus writes :— " f have examined a great many samples of Mr. Bishop's granulated prepara- 1 tions. obtained at various times and frona different a .ureas, aad hive found them to be very • uniform in character, fully charged with C-rbonia Acid, and obviously made with great care and accuracy."
