CITY COUNCIL MEETING.
To the Editor op the 'Evening Mail.' Sir— The editor of the Daily Times in .this morning's issue finds fault with what took place in the Council on Friday last with reference to the £300 proposed to be spent or rather wasted, in cutting down the hill to the left of Mrs Snow's house on the Waimea Road, but I am glad that before concluding his article he admits that the only 1 tsours'e open was to adjourn the further consideration of it until there was a full Council. This is precisely the plan I adopted by moving, "Tha- the report of the Public Wnrka Cora-i mittee be ,'ref erred r back, to enable t^hem to get from the Surveyor ihe cost pi; a footpath only," which was.lostbythe _astfng vofce of the Chairman. - ' - 1 v.- ; ... ; : ;; 1; : Had the minority not left, the 'Council Chamber, I have not the least hesitation in saying that the Chairman would have exercised his easting vote in favor of p_b(cee.iing with this expensive-work, and tenders would have been called for to carry it out. ■-■' ■ ;. I am, &c, F. H. Pickering.-.'; Augnsfc 6, 1877. L ' ' ''""-'
