Sydney, Friday. . The Suez mail arrived at Adelaide at midnight, and bring 3 Londou dates to June Bth. No New Zealand passengers. An engagement took place off the Peruvian coast between two British war ships and the Inca turret ram. The latter escaped after dark, but was so damaged that she was forced to surrender to the Peruvian squadron. Her crew had joined the revolutionists, and had committed piratical acts on British subjects. A German surgeon from Ardahan reports that, after capturing the fortress, the Russians plundered every house, violated every woman, and set fire to the hospital, burning the wounded soldiers alive. Saturday. There is little alteration in commercial matters. The Commercial Bank has declared a dividend of 25 per cent. The reserve fund j now stands at £426,000. The Government have abandoned the intention of obtaining an ironclad.
