HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

Wellington, Friday. The House met at 230 this afternoon. The sitting was chiefly taken.up discussing the Address in Reply, which was moved by Mr Beetham, seconded by Mr Sutton, both speaking briefly. Each considered there were omissions in the speech, such as all want of reference to commerce, manufactures, &c. Mr Delatour took exception to the paragraph referring to Sir Donald MLean as unconstitutional. Dr Wallis and Mr Thompson also condemned the speech on various grounds. Several Bills were introduced and read a first time. The Hon Mr Whitaker, replying to Mr Burns, said that certain proposals regarding Native claims in the Middle Island would be submitted during the session. All the principal sessional committees were appointed. The first division of the session was taken upon an amendment hy Mr Murray, who moved that the committee appointed tb provide for the comfort and convenience of both Houses be instructed to arrange so that any expenditure incurred shall not fall upon the revenue of the colony. Lost by 30 againat 26. The Premier will ask fora vote, for imprest supply on Tuesday next, and either on Friday or Tuesday week he will deliver his Financial Statement. Sir George Grey wanted everyone excluded from Bellamy's but members of the House. The House adjourned till 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
