INTERCOLONIAL.
Sydney, Thursday. In the Assembly last night the question of the,Pacific Mail service cropped up: Mr Parkes acknowledged the extremely unsatisfactory position in which the service stood. He thought a better arrangement might have been made by the late Government. , The present Government found that they must either let the service drop altogether or adopt the course into which the late PostmasterGeneral had practically forced them. The Government had done all that was possible under the circumstances, but admitted the present arrangements were not at all satisfactory.
