RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
[Before L. Bkoad, Esq., R.M.]: Henry Wharton was charged with having in his possession on the 12th of April four dogs, for which he had not taken out tickets! Mr Eell, who appeared for the defendant; stated that the information had been laid after he had left the place. He thought thafe under the circumstances a nominal fine only ought to be inflicted. His Worship, said that the Act did not provide a fine of so much per head for unregistered dogs, b.ufe that it wa3 the same for one as for a hundred-' Seeing that the defendant was still in the same province, and would no doubt have to pay the dog tax in the Amuri he thought a fine of 5s and costs would be sufficient. " "■ Earl v. Mountain. .-. : . Action to recover £6 3s for nine canary birds atfd a cage. Mr Bunny, for Mr Pitt, appeared for the plaintiff. The defendant' did not .appear. Judgment 'foiv amount! claimed, and costs £1 16s.
