The Nelson Evening Mail. TUESDAY, JULY 3, 1877.
At the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning, Alexander Gillon and Henry Wehers were charged with having no lawful means of support. The former has been for some days past annoying the residents of the suburbs of the town by soliciting alms, apd the iatter was found in an oiitVouse on the Waimea Road. The Magistrate dismissed both persons with a caution.
Dr. Squires left town this morning for Hope to hold an inquest touching the death of the infant child of Mr Joseph Lampp, found dead by itss mother's side yesterday morning. The result of the enquiry is not yet 60 hand but there is no doubt that the verdict will ha died from natural causes. The amount of duty received at the Customs, Nelson, for the year ending the SOth of J une uit., was £34,533 4s 3d, an amount that shows a decrease upon the receipts of the previous year of £4,000.
