Karakalissa, frequently mentioned in the late telegrams, is between Dyadin ahd Toprak Ealeb. .May 9.— Turkish bombardment of 1 brail renewed. Russians advance from Bayazid towards Erzeroum. Turkish losses reported heavy. May 13.— Turks at Widin bombard Ealafat. Widin is on the south side of tbe Danube. Russian steamer from Sebastopol attacks frigate at Batoum, and is repulsed. (For Batoum or-Batum, S.E, coast of Black Sea). May 14.— Turkish flotilla bom. bard Galatz. Russian batteries sink a Turkish ironclad with between 200 and 300 men, all of whom but one are lost. Russian batteries at Ibrail shell Matchin. -May 15. — Turkish expedition bombards Sukbum Eaieh or Eaie, (S.E. coast of Black Sea) driviug out Russian garrison. 'General Melikoff, with 8,000 men, occupies Ardahan, after severe fighting, capturing 60 guns, stores, etc. Turks lost between 700 and 800. Russians — 151 killed, 184 wounded. May 20. — About 5,700 Russians attempt to retake Sakhum-Kaleb, but are repulsed with heavy loss.—'Russians lose 300 killed and wounded in a skirmish near Ears. —Turkish* fleet bombards Fort St. Nicholas, or Nickolaia (S.E. icoast of Black Sea).
