The Christchurch Press says that a butcher's show at the various shops in the city will be -held on the 6th July next, when four prizes will be given for the best exhibition of meat— the first being fifteen guineas A prize of three guineas will also -be given for the best show of small goods. Three wate^cblbr picture* by Mr Gully are now (in Fletcher's .New Gallery, Melbourne, and have received a highly flattering notice from the "Argus. They are pictures of the Waimea plains, from the Dun Mountain : of Mount Asoiring, as seen frfbm the Matakitaki. Valleys and; a _view of.
