The Customs receipts at the Port of Nelson for the week ending this day were £743 25.3d. : ' ■ . The sittings o'f the District Court have for some time past been adjourned from day to day owing to the absence of Judge Broad, who went to^ Westport a fortnight since to hold a Revising Court, and has been kept a prisoner there until this morning, when he left in the Charles Edward. Thb adjourned meeting of creditors in the estate of Alexander Maclaine, a bankrupt, was held at the Court House this morning, Mr R. Disher in the chair. Mr Fell appeared for the bankrupt. Mr Bunuy, on behalf o£ the creditors, examined the bankrupt as to his affairs. In, the course, of his examination the! bankrupt stated that he' wis _ stock dealer, and! bad been in Nelsou about 1 four months. ' During" that period he .'bad/earned £5 or £6 in driving stock, but he ccfuld hot 0 say from whom he had 'earned it. He had . also sold a lameJiorse to.Twist audjGray for £8. The liabilities amounted to £211, aud the assets were- nil. Mr Arthur Scajfe ;>vas appointed creditors' trustee.
