HIGH WATER AT NELSON.
ARRIVED. June 16, ketch Standard, 10, Williams, from Moutere. — schooner Uno, 28, Kirk, from Torrent Bay. — cutter Three Brothers, 10, Westrupp, from Moutere. SAILED. June 15, schooner Sisters, 15, Charles, for Motupipi. — cutter Dauntless, 12, Brett, for Adele Island. < The departure of the Lyttelton from Wellington has been postponed till Monday evening, as it is raining so hard there that she is unable to discharge her cargo. The Murray left Wellington last night at 7 o'clock, but up to the time of our going tp press she was not signalled, the probability."; being that she has- not been able to get out. " of the Heads. The Midge will sail for Waitapu as soon as there is an improvement in thestate bf the weather.' The Sisters took her departure for Motu-. pipi last evening. , The Taranaki is once more ready fori sea, and will leave Port Chalmers for -Northern Ports on Wednesday next. i The Result is well fitted with cargo* but' her sailing has been postponed on accouht of the unpropitious state of the weathier. I The schooner Awaroa hauled alongside the Transport yesterday afternoon to receive a few tons of coal from her. The schooner will sail for Wanganui on Tuesday, next at 2 p.m. The Tararua arrived at the BlufE 'from Melbourne and Hobarton this morning, j She will probably reach here on Thursday, i The schooner May, which has . been lying at anchor for some time, is advertised for sale. Her large carrying capacity as a firewood drogher, and her light draught of water, combined with fair sailing- qualities, specially adapt her for the coasting trade,, and she ought soon to find a purchaser. The Maid of Italy saUed for Riwaka at anearly hour this morning, but had not proceeded many miles before she met the westerly gale which blew so hard, and as there was a very heavy sea came down with it, the gallant cutter was compelled to turn tail, and take shelter in the harbor. The signal for a " sail in sight" was flying thia afternoon, and at 1 p.m. a vessel was descried making her way for the anchorage J with the Union Jack flying at the fore. The. brig, for suet, class of vessel she turned out to jbe, when close up to the Lighthouse wore round and shaped a course along the Boulder Bank. The pilot boat crowded all sail in ' pursuit, and when the brig had. proceeded some- couple of miles her crew must have seen the boat, for the vessel was immediately hauied to the wind, and after a short lapse . of -time the pilot boarded her, but had not . returned to the shore up to the time of ■ our going to press. The brig is evidently a Btranger, and appears to have gone through some rough weather, as she has lost her foretopgallant yard, and is tremendously down by the stern, besides having a very heavy list to port.
