It is further stated that in the case of one of the societies, large sums of money- from time to time have been advanced. to certain directors, which were invested in the purchase und working of some ironworks in the town. The concern, failed, and is now in liquidation. /Two of theee^peccant directors, Mr Parker and Mr Croft have filed petitions for liquidation, one for £47,000, and the other for £6,000, with further heavy; contingent liabilities.
