UPPER MOTUEKA ROAD BOARD.
The mouther meeting of this Board .was held on Saturday last. AH the members present except Mr Gee. :
After, the minutes of lust meeting were read and confirmed, the Secretary stated that, in consequence of resolutions passed at a public meeting held on the 10th March last to consider what ateps should be taken to obtain assistance from Government on account of damage done by the rains of February last to the roads in the district, being forwarded to the Government, Mr J, G. Blackett had been sent over to examine the district. He had been shown the iDJury done to all the main reada, furnished with the cose of such' partial repairs as had been undertaken, aod been given an estimate of damage, done in various parts of the district which he considered it unnecessary to visit. In going over the Hope road. he
was requested to make an estimate of
the cost of makiDg it passable for carts. application for an estimate of the cost of opening up that road having only lately been complied with, it had been forwarded to the Waimea County Council for transmission to the Government.- Received a letter . from Mr Drummond asking the Board to certify to the value 6f work, done by him on the Wangapeka track, as he intends to
apply to the. Government for payment; Resolved that Mr Griffith be authorised to .'examine the work and furnish an estimateto the Board. ReBolved that Mr Rigby be authorised to fence the roadway near T. Hodgkiason'e, Tadmor, and make a
temporary track farther from, the river bank; that Mr Goldman be directed td have the Motupiko crossing of the Motueka river made passable; that thaj chairman be instructed to have the Tadraor crossing of the Motueka rivec made passable; and that Mr Symeq have authority jto. .-'get :t|?o' "or thfee^ email fords made on the road between Motueka Valley and Stanley Brookj Resolved that a meeting be held on the 16th . instant .to repeiye , and - sign "the balance-sheet. Resolved that the Sec-j retary be directed to give the usual notice of the ejections, l and that Mr Griffith, the chairman and secretary be directed to attend the meetings in] Stanley Brook, Motupiko, and Tadmor sub-districts respectively, and^hava authority to receive rates. Received a letter from the Treasury stating that the subsidy for the six months ending June, 1877, amounting to £81 6s 8d had been paid into the Jßtank. Received a circular inviting suggestions on quear tidns involved in . the intention of the! Government to pass a Road Aot to make Road Boards uniform throughout the Colony. Accounts were passed and paid amounting to £11 6s 2d, I
