'VRE ANNUAL MEETING of the MEMBERS of the PERMANENT x BUILDING SOCIETY of NELSON, was held &t the Temperance Hall, Bridgestreet, on 'Weditesday, May 23, 1877, at 730 p.m. Mr David Bukns was. voted to the chair, who called upon the Secretary to read the Report and Balance Sheet, after which i. ■ ' ; Mr Darby proposed the adoption of the Report, seconded by Mr H. Tribe, and carried ■unanimously. The Election of Five Persona to act as Directors fell upon Messrs R. Burn, P. Cook^, H. Hohnsell, and J. Hounsell for three years, and Mr P. 'x'opliss for two years. THE FIFTEENTH REPORT OF THE DIRECTORS OF THE PERMANENT BUILDING SOCIETY OF NELSON. The Permanent Building Society of Nelson having completed its Fifteenth Year, the Directors have much pleasure in presenting to the Shareholders the usual Annual Report and Balance Sheet, the particulars of which they believe cannot fail to be satisfactory to all interested in the progress of the Society. The Profit for the past year shows £1,432, or aboii N'le per cent interest on the Capital of the Shareholders, which is invested in Securities of the very best description, that are constantly increasing in value. There is now a srm of £16,965 invested on ' 'eehold securities, and the Directors are happy to say there is a good demand for new Loans to the full extent of the means at their disposr 1 . The ordinary bus' less of the Society shows a satisfactory increase for the year, the nu. - ber of new Shares taken tip being 692, representing £13,840 ; against 526 Shares, representing £10,520, matured and withdrawn during the same period, The Total Receipts from all sources have been £11,412 13s 2d, out of wFch sum £4,560 has been advanced on new Loans and on Loans transferred from old Shares to Shares ha the later Series, and £6,164 15s has been repaid to Shareholders on Shares matured and withdrawn. The Accounts submitted have been strictly and fully exanrned by the Auc v tors appointed at the April meeting (whose names are a sufficient guarantee of the 5 : ability and competency), and have been found perfectly correc . The meeting hasnow to elect Five qualified Persons to act as Directors, fcur of them for three years, and one for two years. The members nominated are Messrs Henry Hounsell, Jesse Hounsell, Frederick St. John, and Philip Topliss ; also Messrs Robert Burn and Peter Cooke, two of the retir 'g D : *ectors, who offer themselves for re-electior.
