LATEST WAR NEWS. DESPERATE FIGHTING-HEAVY LOSSES. London, May 17. The head quarters of the Russian army have been transferred to Ploveste. The accounts of the repulse of the Russian troops at Batrun are substantially confirmed. Russian dispatches state that the Turkish ironclads have bombarded Sukhuui Katch (?) In Asia a desperate battle has been fought on land and many were killed and wouded. [ The French Ministry has resigned.
