The Revision Courts for the City of Nelson and Suburbs were held this morning. The Town Clerk's rate list for the former district, being in proper order, were allowed, and 110 names were thus placed on the roll. The Clerk's rate list for Suburban North was disallowed as not being in accordance with the law, the names of certain female ratepayers being included in it, the list not being countersigned by the Chairman, nor the certificate of its correctness appended by the Clerk. Mr Gilbert, the librarian, requests us to say that while thanking those persons who have so readily responded to his wishes by the return of books, &c, in order that he may proceed with the catalogue, he laments the unfair want of promptitude on the part of others in doing the same. The funeral of the late Mr James Shore took place this afternoon, and wag attended by a large number of Odd-Fellows' of which Society he was a member. Wb understand that an excellent course, very nearly a mile round, has been laid off in a paddock on Disher's old farm for the races next Thursday. The first event will take place at noon, and the running of the trains has been so arranged that passengers will arrive in ample time. The sale of sites for booths, &c. will be held at Messrs Sharp and Pickering's to-morrow, and should realise a fair sum as there will be no other amusement of any kind goiug on on the Queen' 3 Birthday. We sometimes eat too much. Appetite occasionally outruns discretion and the consequence is fit for indigestion which may lay the foundation of future wretchedness in the shape of chronic dyspepsia. As a means of counteracting the effects of overeating, and, if used persistently, of completely eradicating the last named malady, there is none mora certain and agreeable than that admirable anti-dyspeptic and after-dinner cordial Udolpho Wolfe's Schiedam Aromatic Schnapps.— Advt
