Dunedin, Wednesday. The Waste Lands Board has resolved, subject to the approval of the Governor, not to realise any part of Fulton's ruu, consisting of 2600 acres. At the medical Conference held to-day »c barquo Gloucester, it was decided not to burn such portion of matting as had come into contact with Chinese cargo, as it was not considered capable of disseminating disease, and will be handed over to the consignee. The Chinamen now on Quarantine Island will be released as soon as they are provided with clothing and passed by the doctor. Auckland, Wednesday. The Harbor Board has determined to invite applications from persons willing to furnish a steam tug for the harbor works. Carrand's (Government surveyor) staff proceeds to Waikato to-morrow to make a trial survey of the Thames and Waikato line. An English company has sent a special representative to work the magnese mines. The tidal wave visited Mercury Island. Two cutters were driven ashore, but got off. The only damage sustained on shore was the carrying away of part of a fence. Wellington, Thuraday. The sittings of the Conrt of Appeal have been suspended for the present, without having decided any case, in order to take a number of cases set down for hearing in the Divorce Court. At the Divorce Court to-day Mr Bell appeared for the petitioner in the following Nelson cases:— Brown v. Brown and Fuller, and Pell v. Pell and Shepherd and applied for a decree absolute. Both cases are postponed tiU the next sitting o£ the Court (in a fewdays) so as to permit of the usual affidavits beiug filed. Bluff, Thursday. The Tararua arrived at daylight this morning, haviug left Sandridge on the 9th. She called in at Hobarton, and had light head winds throughout the passage. Saloon passengers for Nelson: Mr and Mrs Dryson. The Tararua brings no later news of interest than that received per Wakatipu. Judge Stephen has received twelve mouths' leave to visit Europe, and Sir Redmond Barry has been telegraphed to return. A considerable quantity of rain has fallen all over the country. Business has improved.
