Telegrams relating to the tidal ware hare been recti red from the following places: Poverty Bay, -Gisborne, Port Chalmers, Napier, Lyttelton, Akaros, Timaru, Oam&ru, and tha Btuff. The phenemenon was observed at all «h« above pl«cea, this morning after seven o'clock, and the rise and fall varied from three to eight feet, which height it rose at Poverty Bay. The «bb and flow each tinre is described as occupying different times between fifteen minutes and an hour. No damage has been reported anywhere. Here the ebb and flow slackened at midday, increased again in the afternoon, but ceased altogether about seven p.m. Saturday. In the Supreme Court this morning, the Chief Justice delivered judgment in the case ' of Harnon v. the Public Trustee, in which one creditor endeavored to recover from a life insurance policy which Robert Spark Lowe, a bankrupt, had effected with the Victoria Assurance Company prior to his decease. Lowe left a widow and five children, and the point involved was whether a policy of insurance is protected to the family from the creditors on the death of the assured The Court decided that it was, and judgment with costs was given in faror of the defendant. A tidal ware here this morning rose nine inches. Fears are entertained for the safety of the Sarah Pile, which left Kaipara on April 2nd for Wanganui, no tidings having been heard of her arrival. The inquest on the exhumed 'remains of Mrs Scott, who died at Onehunga in child birth, was concluded yesterday. A verdict of died from rupture of uterus, and not from malpractice, was returned. The evidence regarding the analysis showed that one thousandth part of a grain of arsenic was found on the lines of cloth laid under the chin of the corpse and placed with it in the coffin. The theory set up by the Coroner was that arsenic might have existed in the bottle out of which ginger beer had been given to the patient. At a large meeting of licensed victuallers held last night, a resolution was carried that it is desirable to abolish outside lamps, and advocating a reduction of license fees. The meeting was also in favor of petitioning Parliament for Sunday hours. Colonel Nation has been elected the first Mayor of Parnell without opposition. A man mined Thomas NealHe has been killed at Papakura by a falling limb of a tree. There was a tidal wave here yesterday at 2-30 p.m., also at 6 p.m., when it rose six feet iv three minutes. No damage was done, except washing away some house material at the wharfage works. It still continues slightly. The management of the Albion Coal Company has been transferred from Nelson* to Dunedin. Messrs Larnach, Oliver, Turnbull, Proudfoofc, and Brodrick are the new Directory, and the first business will be to decide upon [an offer of Messrs Henderson and Co. to construct branch works connecting the mine with the Mount ftochfort railway. At a meeting of the original shareholders in the Koranui Coal Company held last evening, it was reselved that all shares not applied for by the Ist June be allotted among the promoters, or such portion as is necessary to provide sufficient capital for the proposed works, so that no delay may occur in commencing operations. Grahamstown, Saturday. The tidal wave was noticed up the Thames river yesterday; the rise being about three feet. At four o'clock yesterday it came in suddenly, but not very high, returning as quickly. It rose again about seven this morning.
