The Taupo was bar-bound at Manukau until 8 o'clock this morning, when she contrived to make her escape. She will arrive to-morrow night, and sail for the South on Monday at 9-30 a.m. The Charleß Edward will sail for West Coast ports at 10 a.m. to-morrow. The Maori arrived at Westport this morning. The Wallace arrived at Wanganul yesterday afternoon, having encountered a heavy north-west gale on the passage. She will leave for Opunake as soon as the sea moderates. The Lyttelton will sail for Blenheim tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. The Lady Barkly returned from her usual trip>to Golden Bay this afternoon. The steamers Kennedy and Lady Barkly, schooner Uno, and ketch Mermaid were the only arrivals to-day, while not & single vessel sailed. The Ringarooma arrived at Wellington at 3 p.m. yesterday, having made the run across in eight hours and a half. She was to leave that port for Lyttelton last evening. The steamer Kennedy returned to port at six o'clock this morning. She left Wellington on Thursday evening, but on arrival at the Heads there was found to he such a heavy; sea running outside that Capt. Palmer did not deem it advisable to try and force a passage against it, and the Kennedy returned to Wellington in company with two other steamets. She left there at six o'clock last evening, and arrived here as above. The Wellington, which arrived yesterday afternoon, has had some roagh weather on the passage up, and in consequence is one day behind time. She anchored at the Pass for a short time yesterday, as the tide did not answer for her coming through on her arrival there, and a boat was lowered for the purpose of fishing. After discharging cargo she sailed for the North at 8 p.m. We observe that a change has taken place in the head of the steward staff, Mr Campbell, the late chief steward, having joined the Wanaka, while his place is filled by Mr Grant, who held a similar position on board the Wanaka. The weather must have been very bad in the Straits on Thursday evening, as, in addition to the Kennedy, the Storm Bird and Napier were unable to face the heavy sea, and had to return to port. A number of coasters had to come to an anchor in Worser's Bay d!or the same reason. V cry little rest was given the Hinemoa on her arrival at Wellington with his Excellency and ..suite on. Thursday afternoon. Shearrived there at 3 p.m., and at 6-30 p.m. sailed for New Plymouth to bring down the Hon. Maj<}r Atkinson, who was unable to get on board" of the Stella on her last trip there in consequence of the bad state of the weather.
