Bqsibat, May 9. Mr Gladstone's unexpected withdrawal of the obnoxious portion of his resolution has caused a scene of tumult and confusion. The Marquis of Hartington accepted Jthe remainder. Mr Gladstone vigorously attacked the Government policy. Mr Cross, the Secretary of the Home Department, said the Czar was answerable for the rupture which had taken place, but if Constantinople was not attacked, no question as to English interests would arise.
