The Maid of Italy sailed for Riwaka last evening: The 'cutter Midge arrived from Waitapu last evening. .- The Pearl sailed for Motueka last evening with a. cargo of coal transhipped from the barquelAnsdell. .< The Lady Barkly arrived last evening from Qolden Bay, and made a trip to Motueka and back to-day. The {ocean steamer Durham left Melbourne for London on April 21st with 100 saloon and 240 second cabin passengers, aud a full cargo. The -Union Company's s.s. Taranaki, Capt. Griffiths, came into harbor last night at 11 o'clock. She left Port Chalmers at 5*25 p.m. on the 28th ult., and arrived at Akaroa at 8 .a.m. On the 29th; sailed at 11*30 a.m., and arrived at Lyttelton at 2 p.m. same day* left at 7 p.m. on the 30th, and arrived at Wellington at I0 ; 30 ; a.m. on the Ist inst.;' left at B*l3 a.m.- yesterday, and arrived at Pieton at I p.m.; sailed for Nelson at 2 p.m. arriving here as above. Experienced light winds with rain oh.tße passage up the coast. She sailed for Northern ports shortly after noon to-day, j carrying the outward San Francisco mail. Theisis. Murray, Captain Conway, arrived alongside the Albion Wharf this morning at II o'clock from West Coast. She left Nelson at 6*15 p.m. on the 26th ult, and arrived off Westport at 5 p.m. on the 27th, crossing the bar at 9 p.m.; left at 10*30 p.m. on tbe 29th, arriving off Greymouth at -7*40 a.m. next day, crossing "the bar at 9'4o;' discharged cargo ' and took in coal, sailing for Westport on Tuesday at inidhight, arriving off the bar at 8 a.m. yesterday, and. crossing it at 10 o'clock; left same tide at noon for Nelson, arriving here as_ above. She sails for Wellington at 6 p.m. . to-morrow. . Messrs M'Meckan, .Blackwood, and Co. ls. s.s. Arawrta, Captain Underwood, arrived in - harbor at 10*45 this morning. She left Melbourne,^ 2*30 p.m. on the 23rd April, with a full complement of passengers and cargo, also five boxes containing-30;000 sovereigns for Dunedin; passed the Ringarooma in Port, Phillip Bay at 5 p.m., and cleared the Heads' at 6-25, passing Swan Island ac 2-30 p.m. next day. Light easterly winds and fine weather prevailed until midday of the 23rd, whemsheavy S.E. gale was encountered, with a high head sea, which continued until sighting the South - West Cape on the morning of the 28th; passed the Solanders at 5 p.m , and arrived at tbe Bluff at 10-15 same night; sailed at 5 p.m. on the 29th, and arrived at Port Chalmers at 5 a.m. on the 30th; sailed at 5 p.m. same day, and arrived at Lyttelton at 9 a.m. on the Ist instant;' sailed again at 5*15 p.m., and arrived at Wellington at 7*30 a.m. yesterday; left at 1 o'clock this morning, and f^r the first three hours proceeded under steams as nothing would have been gained by arriving at the Pass before daylight; came through the Pass at 820, and arrived here as above. After discharging a few tons of cargo at the Government Wharf in good time she sailed again for Melbourne and South at 12*25, and, judging by the speed, at which she went down the Bay, ought to be in Wellington by 8*39 this evening.
