The Public, therefore, are cautioned againtt using any other than Da. J. Collis Browne's CHLORODYNE REMEDIAL USES AND ACTION. .. This INVALUABLE REMEDY produces quiet, refreshing sleep, relieves pain, calms the system, restores the deranged functions, and stimulates healthy action of the secretions of the body, without creating any of those unpleasant results ..tending the u.e of * opium. Thousands of persons testify to its marvellous good 1 effects and wonderful Cures, while Medical men extol its virtues most extensively, using it in great quantities in the following Diseases .— Diseases in which it is found eminently useful :— Cholera, Dysentery, Diarrheas, . Colics, Coughs, Asthma, Rheumatism, Neuralgia,. Whooping Cough, Cramp, Hysteria, &c. [Extracts from Medical Opinions.*] The Right Hon. Earl Russell communicated to the College of Physicians, and J. T. Davenport, that he had received information to the effect that the only remedy of any service iv Cholera was Chlorodyne. — See lancet, Dec. 31, 18fi4. From A. " Mgroto, dum animas est, spes est." DR. L. IT SMITH (The only legally-qualified. Medical man advertising), CONSULTS — On all affe.tions of the Neivous System (no m»tter irom what cause arising) ; on all broken-down Constitutions ; on all Diseases arising from early Indiscretions ; on Gout ; on Rheumatism. IN these Colonies, those excesses which we have indulged in " hot youth " tell upon us with fearful interest. Our regrets are useless, our repinings . futile. The sole idea should be the chances we possess of remedying the ills we already have, or combating tue effects likely to result. Hide it as he may — put on as good an . ex- : tenor as he can— still ia the victim conscious that he is a. living lie, and that sooner or iater his vices will discover him to the world. Our Faith— our obligations to society at large— the welfare of our future offapdng— and the duty we owe to ourselves— forbids procrasti nation, and points out to us not to wait till the ravages break oue in our constitutions. Before negotiating with a merchant, before engaging with a confidential clerk; before employing a barrister— a careful man makes inquiries as to their standing. ; and, in the case of a legal advisor, both as to his legal qualifications and as to his capabilities of transacting the individual business he consults himjupon. btrange to say, however, in the selection of a medical man, the sufferer frequently • omits these necessary precautions, and without regard tothe fitness, quslifi.ation, experience, and ability for the particular ailment requiring treatment, he consults the ueareat mau, whose experience and practice, perhaps, lies in quite an opposite direction. Is it astonishing that so many are driven mad, are mined in health, and are bankrupt in spirits, hope, and money? Have I not, lor years, pointed out to them that I, Dr. L L. Smith, am ihe only legally-qualified medical man advertising in the Colonies? Hare I not also pro32CUt.d, at my own expense, these very quacks, and exposed the various nostrums they are selling— such as Phosphodyue, Essence of Life, _.c— and had them analysed, and found thtm to oonsist of «• Burnt sugar and flavoring matter," and the certificates I have proved to be all forgerie.. It is fbr this reason that I step out of the eihics of the profession and advertise, to give those who i equrie the services of my branch an opportunity of knowing they eau consult a legaliy qualified mau, aud one moreover who nas made this his especial study. Dr L L, Smith is the only legally qualified medical man advertising, and he has b.en in Melbourne 24 years in tuil practice on Nervous Diseases Loss of Power ami Debility Syphilitic Affections Want of Condition Gout and Rheumatism. Dr. L. L. SMITH can beconsulted by letter — Fee _Si. Mtdiciues forwarded to all the colonies. Dr. L. L. SMITH, 182 Collins st. East. ,i(Late tbe Residence of the Governor), MELBOURNE. . 21 0
