The p.s. Wallace, Captain Dillon, left Nelson at 3 p.m. on Monday; passed through the Wanganui Heads at 9-15 a.m. on the following day, and shortly afterwards grounded on a bank in the river through the negligence of the harbormaster, but got off on the night's tide and steamed alongside the Corporation Wharf. She sails for Opunake at 11 a m. on Monday. The schooner Awaroa, Captain Greagar, wss in sight at an early hour this morning, but the wind then being light from the S.W., she was unable to beat up against it in time to save the tide, and consequently had to come to anchor until this afternoon, when she came into harbor. Captain Greagar reports leaving Wanganai on Thursday, crossing the bar at 10 p.m., and experienced fine weather with light winds, principally from N. and N.E., until last night, when the wind died away, and heavy showers of rain set in, on the passage across. The Awaroa brings two passengers aud ten tons of cargo, but no live stock.
