THE LATE FIRE.
To tue Editor op the 'Evening Mail.' Sir—ln the Mail of tbe 21st instant, concerning the late fire, E. F. Jones says that I repeatedly desired him to subscribe. This I emphatically deny. I only on one occasion (the 14th June, 1874) asked him to bo a subscriber, ancl then I received a warm refusal. As regards the attention I have paid to his premises, I would remind him that it is my duty to my subscribers and the Insurance Companies to give my particular attention to any property needing it. E. Jones reminds me of the ninth commandment. I thiuk it more applicable to himself than to me, as at the inquest I stated only what came under my own observation.—l am, &c, Evan Lloyd, Fire Watchman.
