The schooner May sailed last evening for New Harbor for a load of hop poles. The cutters Maid of Italy and Planet arrived this morning from Riwaka and Motiieka respectively with cargoes of produce. -The cutter Midge sailed for Waitapu last evening. She is now under the charge of Captain W, Hobbs, who for many years has been engaged in the coasting trade. The Albion will be due on the West Coast to»mprrow, that is, providing thai she left Melbourne on her advertised date. .The schooner Awaroa sailed for Wanganui at' high water this afternoon. :The barque Ansdell left Newcastle for this port on the loth inst., and is therefore ten days out. She may be looked for at the beginning of next week. In connection with this vessel we may mention that Mr T. Scott, vmbm the vessel is consigned to, despatched a telegram to Newcastle asking if the vessel had sailed, and received an answer in the affirmative in the short space of four hours and a quarter. The Anchor Line steamer Wallace, Capt. Dillon, arrived alongside the Government Wharf at I*3o p.m. to-day. She left Nelsoh at 6 p.m. on the 17th for Wanganui, arriving alongside the Corporation Wharf there at 8 a.m. next day; steamed across the river to the cattle wharf, and loaded with horses and cattle for Durville's Island, and sheep for Nelson; left at 12*30 p.m. yesterday, and arrived at Durville's Island early this morriing; landed cargo, and sailed ifor Nelson at 8 a.m., arriving here as above. She sails: for Karamea to-morrow at 3 p.m. - The New Zealand Shipping Company's clipper ship Waipa sailed from Lyttelton for London on Friday afternoon last with a full complement of saloon passengers, and a cargo valued at £118,716 8s 7d. She is uuder the command of Captain Alexander Brown, *\yho, it will be remembered, was chief officer qf . the barque Adamant on her visit to Nelson with, immigrants in 1874. The friends of Captain Brown at this port, and there are ' a- great many, will be glad to learn of his -well-earned promotion to the commaud of so. fine. a, vessel as the Waipa. The ship is.in splendid, trim, and we hope Captain Brown will inaugurate his command, he having' been pi-laced in charge since the vessel arrived in New Zealand, by a pleasant as well as a speedy voyage.
